Melbourne Airport has reported a 10% increase in international passengers in November but domestic traffic fell 3%.Arrivals from overseas hit 546,000 with Taiwan (up 24%), China (20%), US (20%), Canada (18%) and New Zealand (10%) leading the growth.
International travel by Australian passport holders climbed 13%.
“The industry has certainly faced some challenges during 2011 so the strong growth in international passengers demonstrates the success of our strategy and is delivering great results for Melbourne and Victoria,” chief executive Chris Woodruff said.
Domestic numbers in November dropped to 1.8 million which led to an overall fall in passenger movements of just under 1% compared to the same month last year.
